Tesla revealed its Model 3 sedan on Friday, introducing the world to the company’s first affordably-priced electric car. CEO and future Mars conquistador Elon Musk presented the new vehicles, fresh off the assembly line, to the 30 Tesla employees who will be the Model 3’s very first owners.
Though Tesla hasn’t yet announced exactly when the Model 3 will go on sale, Musk tweeted some production estimates earlier this month.

Even so, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to roll up to a dealership and drive away in a Model 3 any time soon. Over 500,000 people have laid down $1,000 each to reserve the first Model 3s, Bloomberg reports, and it could be more than a year before Tesla clears its backlog.
