Don’t look now, but this cast is getting very impressive.
Don’t look now, but the R-rated Hellboy reboot is shaping up pretty damn well. It’s no Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy 3, of course, but we gotta take what we can get in this cruel Game of Franchises the comic book movie industry finds itself in.
We already know Stranger Things highlight David Harbour is stepping into Ron Perlman’s shoes as Hellboy, and Neil Marshall is a lowkey coup of a directing appointment. Marshall has helmed episodes of Hannibal, Game of Thrones, and Westworld, not to mention the cult horror movie The Descent (which he also wrote).
Now, reports today have surfaced that Hellboy’s antagonist in the movie, the Queen of Blood, will be played by genre veteran Milla Jovovich (who is not Kate Beckinsale). Also Ian McShane’s in this movie now, too! Surprise! With the greatest respect to all-timer fish boy Doug Jones, I hope McShane’s the new fish boy.
The Hellboy reboot will presumably have a fun, silly subtitle slapped on it at some point, and will come out in 2018 if we’re lucky.
