While last year the great summer menswear debate centered on cargo shorts, in 2017 the garment dividing the nation happens to be the male romper. But unlike cargo shorts, the romper isn’t something men actually wear. For one, it can require you to get nearly-naked in order to pee depending on it’s fly situation and for another, thanks to a straight-cut silhouette, it has a way of turning anything less than a six-pack into a full-on beer gut.
Swervy guys like Cam Newton and Young Dro are currently getting raked over the Internet’s hot take coals for wearing rompers recently—even though they weren’t actually wearing rompers. They were actually wearing urinal-friendly separates that just so happened to match (it’s called fashun, people).
It’s a trend that’s just warming up, but be warned that the expiration date is in sight (as in, put ’em away post Labor Day). So if you want to get in on the onesie (or, really, onesie-adjacent) action, pick up any of these coordinated items. They’ll give you the same electrician-on-acid look without forcing you to use a stall to pee—just be prepared to ward off haters in the comments section of your Insta.
