John Kerry was on Meet the Press Sunday morning, and he had a sick burn lined up and ready for President Donald Trump. But, of course, being John Kerry, he flubbed the delivery.
When Chuck Todd told Kerry that the Democrats’ message has not penetrated in red state America, Kerry took off on a long, meandering retort about the “anger and frustration” people have with the government, tax structure, special interests, and “alternative renewable and sustainable development research and implementation” and zzzzzzzzzz…

It was a real snoozer of an answer. But then, Kerry had one zinger that he was working up to, and it was this: “When Donald Trump says to the world, well we’re going to negotiate a better deal, you know, he’s going to go out to find a better [climate] deal? That’s like O.J. Simpson saying he’s going to go out and find the real killer.”
True to form, however, Kerry went on to explain why the joke was funny, thus ruining it.
And that, to answer Chuck’s original question, is why the Democrats’ message is not being heard in rural America.
