Paris is home to some of the most envelope-pushing menswear designers on the planet. It’s where serious fashion lives. So twice a year menswear buyers, editors, a handful of famous people and pro athletes descend upon the City of Light to witness what’s next in fashion. It’s five days of thumping bass soundtracks and stoic models. The prevailing idea seems to be that the more serious the setting, the more serious everyone will take the clothes. But behind the scenes, it’s less severe and more, well, silly. Backstage at a fashion show is where the models from the catwalk are just young twenty-something guys having a good time. It’s a perfect balance of chaos and control, where final tweaks are made to garments and looks before they hit the catwalk. It’s also the perfect place to see the freshest designer wares up close, outside of the front-of-house ephemera. That’s why we went backstage at some of the week’s biggest shows to capture the coolest clothes and the guys who wear them well.
