Trending News: We’ll Be Pissed If These 8 Things Aren’t In ‘Top Gun 2’
Long Story Short
Tom Cruise announced a sequel to 1986’s Top Gun is ‘definitely happening,’ and Twitter responded with some excellent ideas for the plot.
Hold onto your aviators and take your shirt off because Tom Cruise feels the need…the need for sequel.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter was amped about the news and started speculating on what Top Gun might look like in 2018/2019/2020. One thing’s for sure, a sequel will have a tough act to follow. The first was one of the best scripts ever made, at least according to Director Quentin Tarantino.
So, to make sure the movie is great, here are some ideas to make sure Top Gun 2 isn’t something Tom Cruise will regret.
1. No pilots
It ain’t 1986 anymore — aviation is very, very different. In the next few years, the Navy won’t have pilots doing loops in the sky, at least not pilots that actually go up in the planes. Here are some plot ideas for an aviation movie based in the reality of today.
Top Gun 2: Tom Cruise is now a teacher at Top Gun school and all the students are drones. he’s the only actor in the movie

2. Lots of beach volleyball
How could you forget?
Well, Top Gun 2 is going to need more of it, and it might look something like this:

4. Homoerotic subtext
Either way, the movie will need a lot of homoerotic subtext.
Top Gun 2 better have twice as much homoerotic subtext, or I’m gonna want my money back.

5. Basis in current events
It’s not enough for Top Gun to be a complete replica of the last one for the nostalgics out there (as arguably Star Wars: The Force Awakens was). It needs to have something that can connect with viewers today — and what do we think of when we think of flying?

6. James Tolkan
Two of arguably the best movies of the 1980s, Back to the Future and Top Gun, both had James Tolkan. He needs to be back.
7. Val Kilmer
Whatever happened to Val Kilmer? Haven’t seen much of him lately and he used to be an A-lister. Well, it appears that Val Kilmer is already confirmed to be in Top Gun 2, according to IMDB. Great move.
8. Awesome music
The best part of the first Top Gun was the music. And these all need at least a shoutout in the new one.
And to get yourself amped, here is 10 hours of the theme song.
